Perspective on Global Events

March 17, 2020

Dear One,

Ommm. The 2020 transition has begun. Chaos and turmoil are here to initiate an increase in spiritual orientation that is to gradually grow over the 21st century. Swamiji indicated that a large faction of earth’s adepts have been lobbying for a boost in the spiritualization of humanity to be brought about by natural causes rather than by war, which has been the most common catalyst to date, especially in the 20th century.  It is happening.

Natural disasters, which include those of climate, disease, and economy, tend to bring people together in a more compassionate and global way, and they involve no human enemy to hate and destroy. They bring about a more advanced, humane response to crisis. We can see the necessity for a communal ethic rather than a selfish one as we all join together in a shared plan to keep the Coronavirus from peaking more dramatically. We are also invited to use our frontal lobes and not our amygdalas in response to this unprecedented world crisis. Facts, logic, and discernment, not emotions and reflexive reactions, are safer. So, we must engage our Buddhi and practice autonomic nervous system control. We are well trained in this.

Let us also remember that this is all just the swirling waves of the three gunas. The manifest world’s very nature is fluctuation and change; it all comes and goes. True Reality only is constant, unchanging, and eternal. All that we experience with the mind and body is Maya, the grand illusion that is superimposed over Reality, hiding and distorting our awareness of Truth. From the long view, Shakti utilizes what She can to render positive changes that will increase the likelihood of the success of her Liberation project for humanity. She has her own beneficent purpose, always, though we may not perceive it, and we may rail against the pain of her interventions. Remember, “This is Ishwara’s world; God knows better than man.” Let us accept what is and respond to it productively as best we can.

The current health and economic crisis is already changing our perspective and priorities and shifting our values. We are being forced to change. The crisis is making us live in a Heart chakra appreciation of our shared fragility and mutual need and not in the archaic focus the lower three chakras have on the individual imperatives of materialism, hedonism, and egoism. People are already pulling together to support the more vulnerable parts of our communities, and families are made to find loving ways to spend weeks in close proximity. We are seeing that unbridled consumerism, entertainments, and excursions are irresponsible luxuries harmful to the planet and to the family of humanity. We are really being pushed into the Heart. And it is just beginning.

This shift is, of course, long overdue and is essential to navigating the real topics of this century—evolutionary advancement and environmental survival. Until we embrace a shared global responsibility as a united family of humanity and override vested individual, corporate, and national agendas, we cannot progress spiritually or even survive collectively in the long run. The stakes are high and the need for the species to mature beyond adolescence is immediate. An intervention such as that of the Coronavirus, as dire as it is, could awaken us to live in awareness of our interconnectedness, a Heart chakra foundation in love. The alternative to this awareness could be the species imploding. (Then we would have to continue our Liberation project on another planet, which would be inconvenient, to say the least. The adepts don’t want that!)

The imposed need to stay home also gives us all an opportunity for an extended home retreat. We are to take to our hut and follow sadhana guidelines—don’t mix in crowds, avoid physical contact, talk less, disregard superficial distractions, consume less, eat healthfully, keep clean, be in solitude in nature, focus in simplicity and quietude, contemplate spiritual philosophy, and dive deeply within. The need this virus creates points to the underlying divine design, an indicator that there is a positive presence amid all the disruption. So stay at home and be at peace.

This is not to diminish the real suffering that people are undergoing. This is serious, and we each must do what is best to protect ourselves and those we encounter. We cannot afford to be blasé or selfish. Practical awareness and behavior, not fear and worry, are essential. Germ phobia is a good thing; anyone can be an unknowing transmitter, including ourselves. You’ve seen the graph of exponential viral growth. This is a wildfire. We are interdependent and must rise to the occasion. The individual affects the collective in a potent and exquisite way. We affect each other now more clearly than ever. Aware, proactive compassion and communal sensitivity are called for. The divine mystery is at play here, and we must keep the higher imperative in focus. There is an underlying spiritual purpose here, but we must respect the laws of the material world. The pandemic is a shared global practice for all of humanity.

Our PKYC family is a virtual community on the invisible celestial plane. The world is now more clearly also a virtual community. Let us support one another inwardly in Life, Love, and Light! We are connected. We are One. And, come what may, all shall be well, and all shall be exceedingly well.

I pray for you and love you.

Ommm,

Joan/Shivarpita

I close this message with some quotes I received recently.

Pandemic: What if you thought of it as the Jews consider the Sabbath—the most sacred of times? Cease from travel. Cease from buying and selling. Give up just for now on trying to make the world different than it is. Sing. Pray. Touch only those to whom you commit your life. Center down. And when your body has become still, reach out with your heart. Know that we are connected in ways that are terrifying and beautiful. (You could hardly deny it now.) Know that our lives are in one another’s hands. (Surely that is clear.) Do not reach out your hands–reach out your heart; reach out your words; reach out your tendrils of compassion that move, invisibly, where we cannot touch. Promise this world your love—for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, so long as we all shall live.

———-

And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. And meditated. Some prayed. Some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And in the absence of the people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. And when the danger passed and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to heal the earth fully, as they had been healed.
