The PKYC Spiritual Guidance Retreat provides sincere PKYC consultees with personal training and supervision as they learn and practice their recommended spiritual methods. The Assessment Service is always a prerequisite to the Spiritual Guidance Retreat. The two-week Initial Spiritual Guidance Retreat experience at the Oneness Sanctuary in Knoxville, TN, provides individual spiritual direction to improve the consultee's rising and to begin addressing any negative effects sustained by their container (energy system, mental impressions, and discernment) due to their blocked or deflected rising. It is also designed to train the consultee's energy system to function in a way supportive to spiritual growth and to train the aspirant to live a spiritual lifestyle that is supportive to a continued healthy spiritual process. The Recommendation Service is provided as the initial training offered during the Spiritual Guidance Retreat. Participation in a retreat is required of all consultees so that in-person supervision, support, and guidance can be given. Among other benefits, the effects of the practices on the consultee's system can thus be viewed directly. Long distance initial guidance cannot assure correct practice of the recommendations and cannot render reliable results. The Initial Spiritual Guidance Retreat is designed to provide an intensive, comprehensive, and safe container to boost the individual's spiritual development to the next stage, which usually entails reaching the top of Ajna chakra at Makara point, which is the entry point for full Risings, which access Bindu, the pinnacle experience of Oneness. (Please refer to Kundalini Vidya for an explanation of the process of spiritual development offered by TKS).

The Spiritual Guidance Retreat comprises a comprehensive and individualized program that each retreatant follows. These include: individually prescribed poses, breathing practices, and meditation/prayer methods that are practiced four times a day, individually recommended Ayurvedic dietary supplements for the energy system, Ayurvedic cuisine, Ayurvedic cooking instruction, spiritual study, and relevant spiritual instruction and direction. The retreat program is gently disciplined and balanced for optimum benefit. The home cooked cuisine provided at the retreat is organic and vegetarian, and special dietary needs are considered.

After a group orientation session, the retreat director offers individual retreatants clarifying information regarding their current Kundalini process and any associated difficulties with the container, as needed. Next, each retreatant's individually prescribed Recommendation program is personally demonstrated, and the retreatant is coached in its correct practice. Retreatants are encouraged regarding the importance of using the practices, dietary supplements, and Ayurvedic cuisine they are offered for the improvement of their process.

Retreatants then follow the daily retreat schedule and practice their set of individual spiritual practices both independently and under the supervision of the retreat director, who monitors their progress, makes adjustments, and responds to questions about practice. Spiritual practice (sadhana) precedes meals and sleep. Individual or group spiritual discussion sessions (satsangs) are provided to give spiritual direction and educate retreatants regarding topics of relevance to their own spiritual life. Educational audio and videotapes are available, a taped PKYC seminar on Traditional Kundalini Science is provided, and spiritual books and music are on hand. Recommendations for spiritual study may be offered. Rest, mild exercise, and housekeeping tasks round out the schedule. Short outings may be arranged when appropriate. Retreats are individually and intrapersonally focused rather than interpersonally focused, so introspection and a peaceful, contemplative mode are encouraged. Personal sharing with the retreat director is encouraged and favored over such disclosure with fellow retreatants. Spiritual experiences and individual life struggles are considered personal and private and not the topic for the light conversation in which retreatants might engage.

At the end of the retreat, participants have an exit session to address questions and to clarify their ongoing follow up consultations and the practice of their recommendations in their daily lives at home. Retreats should be viewed not as an isolated learning event such as a workshop, course, or seminar but as an intensive experience that provides spiritual guidance and yields spiritual improvement to form a solid foundation for ongoing continued practice and regular follow-up consultations.

Retreat dates are scheduled by arrangement and generally begin on a Sunday and finish on a Saturday. Retreat accommodations include four single occupancy rooms and two shared bathrooms in a homey setting with tree lined acreage. Retreats are offered to Americans in Knoxville, Tennessee. Europeans may inquire about services in Rishikesh, India.
